Premier Cricket Data Analyst (Volunteer)

Position Title: Premier Cricket Data Analyst                  Location: South Australian Premier Cricket Clubs Reports To: Club Coach / Cricket Director                     Status: Volunteer (Unpaid) 

Hours: Flexible, seasonal commitment during cricket season

Position Overview

The Premier Cricket Data Analyst provides analytical and performance support to coaching staff and players through the collection, interpretation, and presentation of cricket performance data. This volunteer role is designed for a university student or recent graduate studying Data Analytics, Sports Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Sports Science, or a related field who is seeking practical experience within a high-performance sporting environment.

Working closely with Head Coaches, Cricket Directors, Batting Coaches, Bowling Coaches and players, the analyst will assist with opposition scouting, match analysis, video review, performance reporting and data management to support player development and team success.

Key Responsibilities

Opposition Scouting & Reviews

• Analyse opposition teams and individual players to identify strengths, weaknesses and tactical trends.

• Develop reports on batting scoring zones, dismissal patterns, bowling tendencies and match strategies.

• Provide pre-match scouting reports and recommendations to coaching staff.

Video and Technical Analysis

• Code and clip match footage for coaching review sessions.

• Combine video evidence with statistical insights to support player development discussions.

• Prepare visual examples for team meetings, coaching briefings and player feedback sessions.

Performance Reporting

• Collect, clean and analyse player and team performance data.

• Create dashboards, reports and visual presentations to assist coaches with selection and match planning.

• Identify trends and performance indicators across batting, bowling and fielding disciplines.

Data Collection and Match Coding

• Assist with live or post-match coding or analysis of Premier Cricket matches and potential set up of Frog Box for match day streaming

• Maintain accurate player and team databases.

• Support statistical record keeping and data entry requirements throughout the season.

Essential Requirements

• Current university student or recent graduate in Data Analytics, Statistics, Sports Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

• Competent in Microsoft Excel and data visualisation tools.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Interest in cricket and cricket performance analysis.

• Ability to work collaboratively with coaches and players.

Desirable Requirements

• Understanding of cricket statistics and performance metrics.

• Experience with video analysis software or sports performance platforms.

• Previous involvement in cricket, sport science or performance analysis environments.
